We will have Spring calves this year here at Quincey Cattle Beef. Though our usual calving season is around October, this year one of our herds will be calving in the Spring. With the next generation of calves being born, it is our job to ensure a safe environment for calving. Ensuring proper nutrition is one key part of preparation. Our heifers are enjoying grass at their leisure along with supplements such as salt blocks to aid in hydration. We are also frequently checking for even the smallest holes in fence lines where calves could escape. Finally, we are keeping close tabs on our cattle to ensure there are no issues with calving. Though we can handle most calving issues without assistance, we have a veterinarian at our disposal to properly treat the situation if needed. . It is always a beautiful part of our job to welcome new life onto the ranch.
